Facebook integration temporarily disabled for new users

Unfortunately, due to unexpectedly high traffic we have temporarily disabled Facebook integration for new users (only new users - the existing Showzey users should be able to manage their Facebook photos without problems). We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are already working on improvement which will make our product super-scalable (read: hundred thousand of photos per user).

Facebook integration should be re-enabled for new users in few days.

Fixed intermittent problem with Flickr catalog

We had an intermittent bug that some user were unable to catalog all their Flickr photos (big thanks to Daniel for reporting the problem)

This is fixed now.

The updated Showzey is here: A little better performance, fixes, and one new feature

We have updated Showzey.com. The site should be a little faster, share emails will not be catches by spam filter, we added Single Click “Delete Account”, and other minor fixes.

Better Performances

Showzey.com performances should be a little better. We have applied ruby mbari patch and did some code optimization.

However, we are still not performing as fast as we should - there is still a memory leak (probably caused by ruby String implementation). We are working on it.

Share email will not be catch by spam filter

We have fixed problem that our share emails were considered as spam by Gmail spam filter. Lesson learned: don’t mess with headers when sending emails via Gmail.

Single Click Delete Account

Now you can delete your account from Showzey in one click. Go to your account menu and select “Delete my account”. That will delete all your photos stored on Showzey storage, all photo links cataloged by Showzey, and authorization and authentication tokens we store in our secure storage. Immediately - no need to wait for Showzey resync with identity providers (Yahoo!, Google, and Facebook) to learn that you revoked Showzey authentication and authorization.

Intermitent slownest of the site: update

Actually, the problem we are facing is the following:

Some processes end up eating ~2G of memory each - which causes slowdown of everything:

We are working on a fix. Hopefully everything will be fixed by end of day today (30th Jan 2010). tomorrow (31st Jan 2010).

Slownest of the site and excruciating long catalog of photos - fix on the way

We have a bug in our catalog photos code which causes that cataloging takes really long time and eventually slows down the entire web site. This happens when a user tries to catalog more that 30K of facebook photos.

The problem is caused by our bug which we tried to dress as a feature - but it is a bug.

We plan to deploy a fix by 30th Jan 2010.

RSS feed problem fixed
